Manual Osteopathy in Calgary
Manual Osteopathy may help if you have chronic pain, headaches, migraines, TMJ dysfunction, digestive dysfunction, Urinary urgency, constipation, back pain, Scoliosis, plantar fasciitis, whiplash, anxiety or very high stress levels and much more. Manual osteopathy is a form of rehabilitation and injury prevention therapy founded in 1874 by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, with a theory that is based on it’s four founding principles:
The Body Is A Single Unit
Manual osteopaths look at the body as a whole, rather than as a sum of individual parts. When assessing, they will look for the root cause of the pain.
Structure Governs Function
Everything is considered when there is a limit in the function of the body, a manual osteopath will look at bone structure, emotional health, lifestyle, and past breaks, sprains, strain and falls as well as using multiple assessment protocols to determine what the root cause of the pain is.
The Body Is Self Healing and Self Regulating
Your body is intelligent, and always working it’s hardest to keep you upright and functioning to the best of your ability, sometimes we all need a nudge in the correct direction to avoid building patterns of compensation and dysfunction.
The ‘Rule of the Artery’ is Supreme
In order for your body to heal and regulate, there needs to be enough consistent blood supply to the area. When there is trauma (physical, emotional or physiological) the tissues in your body are impeded and blood supply is limited to conserve energy. Manual osteopaths work using gentle techniques to work with your body and allow that blood supply to “turn back on.” Stimulating your bodies self healing mechanisms.
